July 9th Benefit for Cancer Patient Kirby Hawthorne

Local residents and volunteers will be having a benefit fund raiser for Leukemia patient Mary Kirby Hawthorne. Kirby, a 21 year old resident of Convent, Louisiana, was diagnosed with AML Leukemia in October of 2004. She has been unable to attend school since her diagnosis and her primary insurance will not cover her since she is not a full time student.

The benefit is hosted by Freedom Church which is located at 13423 Hwy 431 (near the St. Amant Decorating Center). Please join us on Saturday July 9th, 2005 from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM for lots of fun, food, and prizes. We will have 500 plates of jambalaya for sale cooked by Healing Place Church Cooking for Christ Team, raffle tickets for 4 outstanding prizes, 25+ fantastic "Silent Auction" items, T-shirts, bracelets, homemade sweets bake sale, cold drinks, and more. The Bus from the Blood Center will also be on hand to take blood donations for Kirby!

Be sure to come out and join us in sending Kirby our community's message of hope, help and love. For more information contact event coordinator Buddy Legnon at 225-715-3177.
